Costs for the courses are kept to a minimum as there are no charges for either the classroom facilities or the instructors' time. Students have only to pay for the RYA course packs which are a requirement for the course undertaken. Full syllabus details are provided in the RYA booklet "Sail Cruising & Yachtmaster Scheme (G158)" or at www.rya.org.uk

Depending on the subject, instruction can be carried out alongside or at sea where practical demonstrations and practice is required. Normally a day or half a day's instruction should be allowed for individuals to learn the evolution or skill before practicing in their own time.
