The HSSC AGM is tonight at 18.30 in the Fabrosa room. Thank you for those who have booked for Supper, which will be served following the meeting.

MOD Hoist 

The MOD Hoist is now in operation and available for use by the Marina Team. 

FB3 Carparking

If you require long term car parking please discuss in the first instance with Stewart and let the Office know.

A polite reminder that when visiting FB3 to work on your boats to please unload your cars, and then park on the shingle carpark at the side of the Army Offshore Centre. 

This is to prevent access issues for the Marina Team, especially if the vehicle is left unattended next to members boats.

HORNET NEEDS YOU!.............

 We are still looking for some volunteers to help with the following events:   Waterloo Night 15th June someone to preside over the evening a chance for the Army to step up and celebrate their formal evening.

Families Fun Day 10th August people to help set up and run some of the kids events It would also be good if some of the members that have children could help to devise some events and help out on the day. This has been a brilliant event in the past and it would be a shame to have to cancel if we cannot get the support.

The response to the members questionnaire we sent out last year asked for a selection of different types of events and more family orientated ones too. We are trying to do this, but we can only put on these events with members and associate members offering to help.

HSSC 60th Anniversary Booklet

All Full Members are eligible to obtain The Hornet Services Sailing Club 60th Anniversary Booklet. 

The booklet has been authored and published by Richard Farrington. BZ to Richard, who has given up a huge amount of his time and expertise to produce what is an interesting and fitting anniversary booklet.

Please collect your booklet from the office.

Hornet@60 Anniversary Celebration Dinner 

What a fabulous Evening at Hornet last Saturday Evening

We had the honour of welcoming Hornets Club Admiral General Gwyn Jenkins CB OBE ADC and his wife Sally Jenkins MBE to Hornet@60 Anniversary Celebration Dinner 2024. 

HSSC Commodore Rear Admiral Richard Stokes CBE and his wife Claire Stokes who led the Celebrations along with past Commodores, Directors, Club Members and their Guests. A few photos of the celebrations and food, sadly not every course as we tucked into them too quick and then remembered. 

It took a team effort to build this event and as usual they excelled with their skills and efforts. I would like to thank the Galley Team John and Joy for the preparation which produced an amazing Menu. It was outstanding. Melissa and her Bar and Restaurant team whos level of service from start to finish was outstanding.

Galley Bar and Restaurant team included Melissa, Jo, Karen, Ellie, Valerie, Abi, Chantelle, Harrison and Sarah who expedited. 

Eileen Perry and Rowena Heale for their beautiful display of Flowers in the Foyer. 

The Hornet@60 Working Group who have been working behind the scenes to ensure that our 60th year anniversary is rightly celebrated with the respect it deserves. Richard Farrington, Geoff Goodwin, Janet Melson, Mike Shrives and Keiran Dempsey. 

And last but not least the Marina Team for all the preparation of the outside areas. Well done everyone.

Meat Raffle Friday 26 Apr 2024

Come along to the meat raffle next Friday 26 April. It is to be held in the bar at 13.30. £2.00 a ticket for the raffle and we will also being running a  football card for £1.00 to win a prize. 

Friday is also Fizz Friday! Enjoy a lovely bottle of Cremant, for only £18.00. Guests are also welcome to join in.

Open Mic Night 03 May 2024

We have a club favourite Al Finlan and his Bass player alongside our very own Nick Walker and club member Martyn Holloway.
